Eyelash epilation & excision
Eyelashes prevent dust and other foreign objects from entering the eye. They sense touch and trigger the blink reflex in order to protect the eye. If you are living with misdirected eyelashes this can cause damage to the eye. Fortunately, once these lashes are removed permanently through eyelash epilation and excision, they usually do not grow back.
At FaceRestoration, we understand the irritation and discomfort of trichiasis. We offer a wide range of treatments for eyelash problems, from prescription eye care to surgery to remove the offending lashes. Our ophthalmic and oculoplastic surgeons will safely take care of everything from consultation and diagnosis to treatment and post-op care.

FEATURES, ADVANTAGES, & BENEFITS FOR OUR PATIENTS

At FaceRestoration, you will visit our luxurious London clinics, where you will receive a comprehensive assessment of your condition and where possible, same-day excision under a local anaesthetic for your comfort.
What exactly is eyelash epilation?
Eyelashes can be plucked for temporary relief (called epilation), but they normally grow back. In more severe situations and with recurring illness, our oculoplastic surgeons may prescribe permanent excision of the damaged eyelash follicles.
Will my eyelashes grow back?
It is likely that your eyelashes will grow back after epilation. The process takes 4-6 weeks for new lashes to grow. If you have had excision treatment or ablation your eyelashes will not grow back.
What happens if trichiasis is left untreated?
It is possible for misdirected lashes to reach the surface of the eye and rub continuously or intermittently. This could result in irritation of the eye’s surface. There are a variety of problems that can arise from this disruption, ranging from mild discomfort and foreign body sensation to infection to permanent damage to the eye, including scarring and eventual blindness.
